A marriage without love and affection is like an aeroplane without an engine. No matter how beautiful an aircraft may look like when there is no engine in it, it looses its value. What do we really mean by the word LOVE? Love is a big deep affection that runs between a husband and a wife. The couple must be committed to the success of their marriage. It takes a lot of sacrifice for you to enjoy a wonderful home and relationship.
Love can also be referred to as an ingredient that sustains a marriage. Every successful marriage can be sustained by the way of expressing one’s love without reservations to each other. Love is the ingredient required to keep the marriage going even against all odds and storms and fiery darts that the devil may throw into the relationship. One thing I have discovered in the recent time about young ladies in particular is that most of them because they have waited for awhile, or because there is pressure from the home front, they will jump into a wrong ship without looking back, forgetting that those that push them to it will later on abandon them on their way. They are the first set of people that will to apportion blames on them. Do not marry a man or a woman you don’t love. If you marry a man or a woman because the man or the woman is rich, you have missed it. One of the key points of marriage is that you must establish your love and affection for each other first before going to the altar. Every marriage that will succeed has love as the key. If your motive was money, when money finishes, marriage will begin to witness all sorts of turbulence. In every happy marriage, love is all in all. When you love each other it will not matter to you whether he or she is rich or not. Proverbs 10:12 says: “Hatred stirred up strifes: but love covereth all sins.” Love beareth all things, love believeth all things, love hopeth all things and endureth all things. It is love that make the wife of a poor man to pray for the husbands success than to divorce him. Love will make the husband of a woman who doesn’t cook well, to endure till the wife improves in her cooking habit. Childlessness is not an obstacle in a love motivated marriage. Where there is no love, there will not be care. The man will not care for the woman while the woman will not care for the man. Luke 1:5-7 says: “And they had no child, because that Elizabeth was barren and they were both now well stricken in years.” Despite their age the love that existed between Zacharias and Elizabeth was an agape love. All through the story of Zacharias and Elizabeth they did not for one day visited a herbalist or go from one place to the other in the name of child bearing. About 20 years ago when I met my wife here in Lagos, I was in a deep problem then. I had no home, no clothes, nor even food to eat. My wife too was an orphan, she has no helper except God and I have retired from the civil service and duped of the little money I was paid as my gratuity. I was sleeping in a white garment church. One day I decided to take a step of faith and expressed my heart to her that I’ll like her to be my wife. I was far older than my wife. After all the normal intrigues of a woman, she finally agreed. We are talking about love. The only thing I had left was a pair of shirt and trouser, everything has gone. When we went to see her two elder brothers and her only sister, they told my wife emphatically that I may have charmed her. With all the family threat and abuse my wife stood her ground that this is what she wanted and they could not change her mind. I was scared but she kept on encouraging me that she wanted to marry me not because I have money or wealth, but because she is just in love with me. From there we forged on until we finally wedded into a boy’s quarter room in a face me I face you house, but with God on our side and the prayer support of my wife, my wife who has been a God fearing woman from the onset while I was doing a one leg in and one leg out Christain. Not long she dragged me to God that I had to surrender all unto God, today I can say that God gave me a mother, a sister, a friend as a wife. Everything I happen to become today to the Glory of God, came via the hundred percent support my wife gave me and my ministry.
